Slider Glissando: Finding Unison

๐ŸŽฏ Your Goal

Listen for the beat frequency โ€” when two notes are close but not matched, you'll hear a pulsing or wobbling sound. The closer you get, the more obvious it becomes. When that pulsing disappears completely, you've found unison!

๐ŸŽš๏ธ How to Use the Controls

  • Small buttons: Precise control (1-5 Hz jumps)
  • Medium buttons: Smooth continuous movement (toggle)
  • Large buttons: Fast continuous movement (toggle)

๐Ÿ’ก Strategy

Start with large buttons to get close, then use medium to zone in, and finally use small for precise matching. Listen carefully as the beat frequency slows down!

Match the Tone

One earbud in, one ear free

โš ๏ธ Important Setup

This exercise is significantly better while using a headphone in one ear and the other being free to hear your voice. It does not work with two headphones or if the sound source is too quiet.

๐ŸŽต How to Find Unison

Start with a low or high tone and slowly shift the pitch of your voice to find the beat frequency. Use those as your guides to finding perfect unison.

It's okay if at first it's hard โ€” just keep trying!

Listen
to the tone carefully

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Use glissando to find exact pitch

Audio Settings

This visualization uses WebGL to display harmonic interference patterns between two tones. The patterns are dynamically colored based on the consonance/dissonance of the interval.

Features:
